Greetings! Have you ever had a project that needed a specialized tool, but you did not know where to get the tool or even know how it was to be used? Have you ever wanted to build something, but did not even know where to start? Have you ever wanted to be part of a community of people who liked to think outside the box?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then being part of a community makerspace is exactly what you need. Makerspaces provide communities with resources and education to help people develop skills and ideas. Each makerspace is different and provides a variety of tools to help even the most novice makers become great.
My name is Jeremy Stone and I am a maker. Over the past 20 years I have developed skills in web design, database management, 3D modeling for 3D printing, and computer maintenance. For the past year I have also learned how to work leather, build small electronics projects and program tiny computers to do big things. Imparting my knowledge to the next generation has grown into a dream of opening a makerspace in the High Desert. Only in the last year have I been able to gather the information and skills needed to get the idea off the ground. My goal is to open a makerspace that will be open to the public, providing a location for makers of the desert to share ideas and resources. The makerspace would start off small, but I hope that the idea will flourish and that we will soon have many technical training classes available every day of the week as well as tools and resources to build anything you can imagine.
